Introduction to My Star Wars Blog

Star Wars has always been a huge part of my life. I am not old enough to be a part of the generation who first watched the Original Trilogy. I guess you can call me a Prequel Trilogy kid. However, I am NOT a Prequel Trilogy fan. Yes, there are a lot of good things that did come out of the prequels, especially the Clone Wars animated series. However, to me, Star Wars is all about the lore and history surrounding it. That’s why I love reading all the comics, short stories, and novels outside of the main films, as well as watching all the TV shows like Star Wars Rebels. Reading anything that may pertain to the actual backstory of the films is something I will not pass up. I remember the first exposure I had to the Expanded Universe were some Star Wars comics that I found in my local library that focused on Quinlan Vos. Those comics were amazing because I never knew Star Wars comics even existed, and they just made me want to read even more. To this day, he continues to be my favorite Star Wars character alongside with Obi-Wan Kenobi. When I moved with my parents to a new town, my new middle school’s library also surprised me by having Star Wars novels, even though they weren’t anything special considering that they focused on a storyline involving a Jedi Prince I believe.
Growing up, no one in my family or neighborhood liked Star Wars. AT ALL. The only exposure I had to the films were the constant Episode I and II re-runs on Spike. Even then I knew they weren’t good, and I was still in elementary school. However, before that, I kept being nagged at in 2nd grade by some kid who kept saying how much he liked The Phantom Menace and Jar Jar. He would always bring a book with pictures of The Phantom Menace, and he would always talk about how awesome and amazing the movie was. I would feel left out when others in the class would join in on how much they enjoyed the movie. One day at a yard sale, I found a couple of Star Wars VHS of the Original Trilogy. After watching them, I never saw this thing called Jar Jar. At the time, I did not even know that what I actually watched were the original Star Wars films. Therefore, I never would have experienced Star Wars had it not been for that idiot of a character, Jar Jar Binks.

One of the main reasons why I believe Star Wars continued to live on after the Original Tirilogy and Prequels were first released was due to the stories that would continue to come out. They provided a plethora of history that many people were hoping to get from what the films could not explain during their theatrical runs. Therefore, I am dedicating this blog to anything that relates to the new canon since it is what the next generations of Star Wars fans are going to be exposed to for years to come. Here’s to hoping that what comes out next will only further enhance the amazing story of Star Wars so that many more will be able to love it just as much as the current Star Wars fans.
